Candy Coated Halloween Oreos

Make this fun and easy treat that everyone is sure to love this Halloween!
All you need is Halloween Oreo Cookies, a Halloween Wilton Cookie Mold, and Orange and Black Wilton Candy Melts!
I have made candy coated cookies using Wilton Cookie molds quite a few times for various holidays. All you have to do is melt the candy melts in a microwave safe container according to package instructions and fill each mold cavity 2/3 full with candy melts. Press in cookie. If needed, fill smaller spaces like cat ears and pumpkin stems using a piping bag with small end snipped off. Let set up in the refrigerator for 30 to 45 minutes or until cookies easily unmold. This mold makes 6 cookies.
Halloween Oreos have a fun orange colored cream center and 5 different designs!
Enter for a chance to win your own Halloween Oreos and lots of other cool stuff  by entering my Spook-tacular Halloween Giveaway!
Enter now through October 12, 2012 at midnight central time!

Mickey Mouse Cookies

Nothing like a fun and easy treat on a rainy day! A rainy day is also perfect for making one of those easy treats on my Pinterest Board- Disney Themed Desserts. I am not sure where this idea originated, but I found the idea from Dip it in Chocolate, where these are also made into pops.
What You Need
regular sized sandwich cookies (I used WhoNu? Cookies)
mini sandwich cookies ( I used mini Oreo Cookies)
red candy melts
chocolate candy melts
white round sprinkles for buttons

Heat candy melts according to package directions. Dip half of large cookie into the red candy, place on waxed paper, and immediately place 2 sprinkles for buttons. While the large cookie is laying on the waxed paper, glue on mini cookies with chocolate to make the ears. Let the candy coating set up or place in the refrigerator for about 5 minutes.

Chocolate Coated Valentine WhoNu?'s

Yes, that is what they are called...WhoNu?'s! Every heard of them? I remember seeing them once or twice, but never gave them much thought. Then, while shopping for sandwich style cookies to use for this cookie mold that I got last Valentine's Day and never used, I found WhoNu?'s. The calorie count and fat is about the same as my regular brand, but they add a lot of good stuff to these cookies too!
Of course, I am coating them in chocolate and candy coating, but why not add some nutrition to what we were already going to make? They taste great too! Some of them I coated in dark chocolate so that should count for something good!
These are super easy to make, I made them in a Christmas & Winter theme just last month!
All you need is a sandwich cookie mold, the mold I am using is by Wilton and available at Michael's. You will also need some type of chocolate, candy melts, or candy coating. You can using candy colors and candy flavorings to change it up a bit, I made the pink candy cherry flavored.
Once you have gathered your supplies, melt up your candy according to package directions and get ready for yumminess!
There are a few different ways that the cookie mold can be filled. The quickest would be just making one solid color like I did with the single pink cookie in the photo below, by filling the candy mold cavity 1/2 full with candy and then pressing in the cookie.
Another method is to use a piping or zipper bag with a tiny corner snipped off to pipe in as much or as little detail as you wish. If this method is used, the first color will need to set up in the refrigerator for about 5 minutes before continuing. After the first details have set up, continue by filling candy mold cavity 1/2 full with chocolate or a different color and press in cookie.
Once the mold is filled and the cookie is inserted, let set up in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes or until easily unmolds when you tap onto counter.
Chocolate and candy coated sandwich cookies have become a quick and easy sweet treat that we all love! As simple as they are, they always get lots of attention too! They are so easy that even children can help make them, with a little supervision in melting the chocolate and candy, of course!

Snowflakes & Snowmen Recap

Winter 2011
Is that it? Really Winter 2011? Technically Winter didn't even start until December 21st and is still going on...but I am just not feeling it. Watch old man winter come late and hang around until June! Today, a jacket isn't even needed! When it was raining a couple days ago and around 60 and sunny yesterday I almost complained, and then I thought, "Hey this really isn't bad for January, this is good weather!" So while adorable little snowmen are still appearing in blogland, mine are here to say good-bye, my mind is springing forward!
Oldest to Newest....Newest to Oldest
Where should I begin?
Newest.
These were my crown jewel of the season, my absolute favorite!

These were just a fun and yummy cookie with the snowman candies that my daughter loved so much!

This is what happens when I am having a rough day...I find laughter in making snowmen pee!
I am not really a snowman bully...he just had too much eggnog!

Once again, the favorite snowman candies on a favorite quick and easy treat!

This is the traditional Snowman Pop I found popping up on the internet possibly originating from The Farm Girl Recipes, that was as far back as I could find it!

It doesn't get any easier than this and I just thought they were so pretty...and yummy! I really don't like just eating Oreos plain, but dipped, now that is another story. There is a red and green Christmas Tree version of these also on the original post.

This was the first time I used the mini snowman candies. My youngest daughter picked out the snowflake mini cupcake liners and the candies for these cupcakes!

My first cookies of the season!

Just the snowflakes from the collection. These were my first snowflakes, they were my favorite until I made the last snowflake cookies of the season (listed first on this page)!

Some may call this "bark", I just call it "candy", since it was made in a mold. It is another super easy and pretty sweet treat and they were the first snowflakes of the season!

Peppermint Oreo Bark

I really "get" why so many people are making "bark" this time of year!
After making Snowmen Oreo Pops, I had some left over Vanilla Candiquik with some Oreo crumbs in it, so it couldn't be reused. I decided to try making some candy bark and spread it out on a waxed paper lined cookie sheet. My 3 year old spread out a layer of broken up Oreos on top of the first layer of candy. I followed that up with a layer of Wilton Candy Cane Colorburst melts that I had also added additional peppermint candy flavoring to. This is a perfect way to use up some of that leftover candy coating and something easy that younger kids can help to make!
The results were delicious and I now get why so many people are making it!

Snowman Oreo Pops (2 Ways)

Well, Hello There! I am Mr. Snowman!
Some may call me "leftover" and others may just call me "easy" and there are even those that want to eat me up! But please, go after my brothers first, they won't see you coming!
These little candy snowmen by Wilton were also used on my Mini Snowman Cupcakes and there are still enough of the little guys left for cookies!
These Oreo Snowmen have become such a classic, I couldn't resist making them too!
These are just Oreo Cookies dipped in white Candiquik, a piece of candy corn for the nose, and a black Duff Candy Writer for making the eyes and mouth. My daughter thought they needed scarves because they were too cold!
Brrrrrr....it's a brisk 68 degrees out...in December!

Note: It is hard to say where the Candy Corn Nosed Snowman idea originated from, but after making them I began searching and I found these made back in November 2010 at The Farm Girl Recipes.

Dipped Christmas & Winter Oreos

An afternoon snack to tide you over until the next sweet is ready!
Now these are really, super easy, to make!
All you need is a cookie mold like this, and some candy melts, almond bark, chocolate, whatever you have! I am using leftover candy that I have stored in bowls from other recent projects. Just melt up your candy according to package directions in the microwave, fill your candy mold 1/2 to 2/3 full, place your cookie inside, and let it set up in the refrigerator about 15 minutes or until easily unmolds!
The thing I didn't realize when I bought the mold is the bottom of the cookie will remain uncovered. These cookies are even a little less covered since they are double stuffed!
Red- I made the cookie in the mold, as is.
White- I made the cookie as is, then flipped and tried to do the other side. This didn't work so well because of the angled side of the mold.
Green- I made the cookie as is and while still in the mold I tried to spoon the candy over the open side.
It is just easier to leave the bottom uncovered! No matter how you coat them, they are easy, fun, and of course yummy!

Tiny Turkey Dinner Cupcakes

Hold the Gravy?
Thanksgiving Dinner with all the fixings!
Time is running out, tomorrow is Thanksgiving!
I had wanted to make these cupcakes for last Thanksgiving, but I couldn't find the cookie that was in the design on Disney Family Fun, so put the idea aside. Once again this year, I wanted to make them, even Pinning them when Pinterest came out to my Thanksgiving & Fall Board, but I still couldn't find a comparable cookie and once again thought I would put the idea aside. Then it hit me, when I was making the Christmas Oreo Pops to use the Golden Oreos or Golden Creme Filled Sandwich Cookies! They are a little smaller, but they worked!
I decorated the cookie before putting it on the cupcake.
First I frosted the the cookie, then added a little white icing for the mashed potatoes. I put a little yellow circle sprinkle in the center for butter, and then a little yellow piping gel since the sprinkle wasn't enough. For cranberry sauce I used red colored sugar. The green beans are made with green jimmies and the turkey was made with coffee flavored fondant (from Fondarific).
The question then became...
Gravy or no gravy?
I used melted canned chocolate frosting for the gravy and made half with and half without.
These would be a great cupcake to make together with the family, create a little assembly line, each person adding another item to the dinner plate. I think in the end I liked the turkey without gravy.
What do you think?

Happy Thanksgiving!

Christmas Dipped Oreos Pops

Christmas stuff is out everywhere, and I am about convinced that I am one of the few people in the neighborhood not yet decorated. It has become tradition to always try and get through "Thanksgiving First." Growing up in the South, our family tradition was always put up the tree on Thanksgiving or the day after. My husband grew up in the North with a real tree and their tradition was to put it up the week before Christmas. As a partnership and family, we must compromise, so of course, the tree goes up as soon as the table is cleared on Thanksgiving Day and we eat early for that reason! I did pull out my little tiny tree today, just for photos of the Oreo Pops of course, and since it is out, why should I waste all that energy to take it back upstairs and put it back in a box? This tiny tree has been with us since our very first Christmas 18 years ago, we were going away for Christmas, but I still needed some sort of tree and this tiny tree is what I got and even though we have had many trees since then, the tiny tree is displayed every Christmas.
Recently my Holiday Peppermint Patties were featured on Miss Candiquik, something that I am quite proud of! I am always excited to see my sweets featured! Anyway, on the post with my Peppermint Patties, Miss Candiquik made Vanilla Dipped Peppermint Oreos and that was something that caught the eye of my kids! Having some leftover plain Double Stuffed Oreos from the Oreo Turkeys that I just made, today was the perfect day to make Dipped Oreo Pops, before they disappeared!
I did try and make some of mine a little different from Miss Candiquik's, but I love the swirls she made too and had to make some like that! These are really quick and really easy to make following the tutorial from Miss Candiquik! I am talking about the Dipped Pretzel kind of EASY!
Something about a Double Stuffed Oreo dipped in Vanilla Candiquik and on a stick...makes them soooo much more fun and taste even better! YUM!

Oreo Turkeys

Worried you won't have something fun to make for the little kids (and big kids) at Thanksgiving?
Double Stuffed Oreos + Reese's Peanut Butter Cups + Whoppers + Candy Corn + Melted Chocolate= FUN
As soon as I saw these Oreo Turkeys they were put on my to-do list for Thanksgiving! These little guys are quick and easy to make and the kids had lots of fun helping! You can find an easy tutorial at Our Best Bites. Instead of frosting I used yellow candy melts to make the eyes, feet, and while I was at it, I drew on hands too!
Our Best Bites inserted a name pick out of the top of the Oreo Turkeys to use them as place cards! Such a cute idea! I decided to make the Oreo Turkeys as place cards too, writing everyones name on the back of the Oreo Turkeys with the extra melted candy melts that were left from drawing the hands and feet, and gluing on the candy corn beak and candy coated sunflower seed wattle. Kids love seeing their names on things, and this way there is sure to be some left for Dad and Mom too!
These were also a hit at The Sweet Swiper's Thankgiving Table last year and they have been made by quite a few already this year! All these people can't be wrong! These are sure to be a hit with your friends and family too!

Twisted Sisters Cupcakes

Part 3
my pre-baking snack
It has been almost 4 months since I have last hunted down the DIVA! That's the Twisted Sisters Cupcake Van! When I checked there schedule on the Twisted Sisters Facebook Page, I found that they were going to be right in my area at 10am this morning. I had so many baking projects planned for today and what better way to start my day than with a cupcake? Just because I bake cupcakes a few times a week, doesn't mean that I don't want to support fabulous local bakers! This is actually my 3rd time reviewing Twisted Sisters Cupcakes and not really even a review anymore, just sharing these great cupcakes with the world...and they keep getting better!
So what flavors did I choose today?

On the left is Chocolate Oreo- It started with a chocolate cupcake, with little bits of Oreo inside! The frosting was a Creamy Vanilla Swiss Frosting and topped with crushed Oreos. The cupcake was great and the frosting even resembled in flavor that white stuff inside of an Oreo to me!
On the right is...drum roll please...dumdadadum...ChocolateX4- Seriously...Chocolate times 4. The chocolate cupcake had mini chocolate chips all in the cake AND THEN...it has chocolate mousse inside...AND THEN...it was topped with Chocolate American Buttercream and some chocolate sprinkles! This cupcake nearly put me over the edge, OH YES! It was THE BEST CUPCAKE I HAVE EVERY HAD!
I was at the first stop of the day and the cupcakes were chilled, they have to start that way if you are going to be traveling around with them in a van all day. They recommended that they sit out about 10 minutes before eating...but I couldn't wait, I cut right into it! YUM! Pure Perfection!
These girls are amazing! They just started delivering cupcakes in October 2010, and where some places start out great and quality goes down, every time I have been to Twisted Sisters Cupcakes...they just keep getting BETTER! Oh, and these cupcakes are BIGGER than the standard cupcake available at most places, not quite a jumbo, but bigger than a standard, so you get more than 2 or 3 bites of heaven! If you are ever in the Hampton Roads Area in Virginia, look them up on the Twisted Sisters Facebook Page or the Twisted Sisters Website, find there location and hunt them down so you can try one of these delicious cupcakes!

You can read about my other visits to Twisted Sisters Cupcakes HERE!
I wonder if they have ever googled themselves and found me blogging about them? They probably think I am a stalker!
