Hearts On Sticks Cookies

I couldn't resist titling this post "Hearts on Sticks!" Sounds creepy, I know, but that is what they are right?
Something about putting anything on a stick just makes it more fun! Cake Pops, Cotton Candy, Apples, and of course COOKIES! To make these, just prepare and out sugar cookie dough as you would for any cut out cookie. Gently twist in a lollipop stick and bake according to recipe directions. I have also seen wooden cookie sticks available, but I just stick with paper sticks since they can be used for candy, cake pops, and cookie pops.
I guess it is the pinstripes but something about these reminds me of baseball!

Snowflakes & Snowmen Recap

Winter 2011
Is that it? Really Winter 2011? Technically Winter didn't even start until December 21st and is still going on...but I am just not feeling it. Watch old man winter come late and hang around until June! Today, a jacket isn't even needed! When it was raining a couple days ago and around 60 and sunny yesterday I almost complained, and then I thought, "Hey this really isn't bad for January, this is good weather!" So while adorable little snowmen are still appearing in blogland, mine are here to say good-bye, my mind is springing forward!
Oldest to Newest....Newest to Oldest
Where should I begin?
Newest.
These were my crown jewel of the season, my absolute favorite!

These were just a fun and yummy cookie with the snowman candies that my daughter loved so much!

This is what happens when I am having a rough day...I find laughter in making snowmen pee!
I am not really a snowman bully...he just had too much eggnog!

Once again, the favorite snowman candies on a favorite quick and easy treat!

This is the traditional Snowman Pop I found popping up on the internet possibly originating from The Farm Girl Recipes, that was as far back as I could find it!

It doesn't get any easier than this and I just thought they were so pretty...and yummy! I really don't like just eating Oreos plain, but dipped, now that is another story. There is a red and green Christmas Tree version of these also on the original post.

This was the first time I used the mini snowman candies. My youngest daughter picked out the snowflake mini cupcake liners and the candies for these cupcakes!

My first cookies of the season!

Just the snowflakes from the collection. These were my first snowflakes, they were my favorite until I made the last snowflake cookies of the season (listed first on this page)!

Some may call this "bark", I just call it "candy", since it was made in a mold. It is another super easy and pretty sweet treat and they were the first snowflakes of the season!

Snowman Oreo Pops (2 Ways)

Well, Hello There! I am Mr. Snowman!
Some may call me "leftover" and others may just call me "easy" and there are even those that want to eat me up! But please, go after my brothers first, they won't see you coming!
These little candy snowmen by Wilton were also used on my Mini Snowman Cupcakes and there are still enough of the little guys left for cookies!
These Oreo Snowmen have become such a classic, I couldn't resist making them too!
These are just Oreo Cookies dipped in white Candiquik, a piece of candy corn for the nose, and a black Duff Candy Writer for making the eyes and mouth. My daughter thought they needed scarves because they were too cold!
Brrrrrr....it's a brisk 68 degrees out...in December!

Note: It is hard to say where the Candy Corn Nosed Snowman idea originated from, but after making them I began searching and I found these made back in November 2010 at The Farm Girl Recipes.

Christmas Dipped Oreos Pops

Christmas stuff is out everywhere, and I am about convinced that I am one of the few people in the neighborhood not yet decorated. It has become tradition to always try and get through "Thanksgiving First." Growing up in the South, our family tradition was always put up the tree on Thanksgiving or the day after. My husband grew up in the North with a real tree and their tradition was to put it up the week before Christmas. As a partnership and family, we must compromise, so of course, the tree goes up as soon as the table is cleared on Thanksgiving Day and we eat early for that reason! I did pull out my little tiny tree today, just for photos of the Oreo Pops of course, and since it is out, why should I waste all that energy to take it back upstairs and put it back in a box? This tiny tree has been with us since our very first Christmas 18 years ago, we were going away for Christmas, but I still needed some sort of tree and this tiny tree is what I got and even though we have had many trees since then, the tiny tree is displayed every Christmas.
Recently my Holiday Peppermint Patties were featured on Miss Candiquik, something that I am quite proud of! I am always excited to see my sweets featured! Anyway, on the post with my Peppermint Patties, Miss Candiquik made Vanilla Dipped Peppermint Oreos and that was something that caught the eye of my kids! Having some leftover plain Double Stuffed Oreos from the Oreo Turkeys that I just made, today was the perfect day to make Dipped Oreo Pops, before they disappeared!
I did try and make some of mine a little different from Miss Candiquik's, but I love the swirls she made too and had to make some like that! These are really quick and really easy to make following the tutorial from Miss Candiquik! I am talking about the Dipped Pretzel kind of EASY!
Something about a Double Stuffed Oreo dipped in Vanilla Candiquik and on a stick...makes them soooo much more fun and taste even better! YUM!

Hello Kitty Cookies & Cookie Pops

Do you have a list? The list could be of anything you want to do. Well, I have a list that is just for baking, divided up into months and under each month I have listed what I want to do for that month. Some of the things can easily be carried over to the next month, but other things are for a particular occasion and must be done at a particular time. These Hello Kitty Cookie Pops are on that list and are something that I have wanted to make since spring and just keep carrying it over. I had them all planned in my head, bright pink with little pearls and the extra Wilton Hello Kitty Candies that I had bought at the same time I got the ones for my Hello Kitty Apples and Bananas Cupcakes that I had made back in April 2011. I couldn't put making these Hello Kitty Cookie Pops any longer! Besides, I have a little girl that loves Hello Kitty, and she has been asking for me for awhile to make something else Hello Kitty!
I do take my hat of to all of the "Cookie People" out there, the ones that are baking and decorating cookies to look like artwork almost daily and posting to their blogs. Y'all are amazing! Making cookies is a lot of work! I am not a "Cookie Person." They just take a long time! From making the dough, to rolling out the dough, to cutting out the cookies, then baking, cooling, making royal icing to the proper consistency, outlining, flooding, and waiting hours in between each color to dry! Hats off to you "Cookie People."
Anyway here I go, making cookies! I used the same recipe I always use: Martha Stewart's Essential Recipe No. 2: Sugar Cookies. For the cookies that I was putting a lollipop stick, I rolled a little thicker, thick enough to where the stick would not show through the cookie and the cookie would be stable. I baked the cookie with the stick right in it! I know not everyone wants to eat their cookie on a stick, but this is fun, especially for little ones! I made 6 cookies on sticks and had enough dough left for 8 regular 1/4 inch thick cut cookies.
I am only using one color of Royal Icing on this cookie to keep it simple. I halved the Wilton Royal Icing Recipe since I don't make cookies often and I didn't want to have too much icing left. I used 2 cups of powdered sugar, 1-1/2 tablespoons of meringue powder and about 4 tablespoons of warm water. This mixed on low in my stand mixer for exactly 10 minutes. I then colored the icing using Wilton Rose. With the icing at that consistency, I piped the outline on my cookies with a size 3 tip. After all of the cookies were outlined, I added 2-3 more tablespoons of water to the remaining icing to bring it to the consistency of shampoo. For the first time, instead of flooding the cookie using a piping bag, I used my squeeze bottle. I am not sure where I saw it done at, but on a "Cookie Person's" blog they had a picture of a bunch of squeeze bottles with all different colors of royal icing lined up on their counter. I really like this method, it works so much better than using a piping bag! It is easy just to put the lid on and take a few minute break without it drying out!
After each cookie was flooded, I immediately dropped the little candy pearls into place on the wet icing. As soon as all of the cookies were flooded, I went back to cookie #1 and glued on the Hello Kitty candy with the thick royal icing that I still had in the piping bag, gently sitting the candy on top of the cookie so I wouldn't mess up the icing. I did press the first one too hard and with the icing still wet and just crusted barely over, it messed up the icing a little.
